Here's what Derek Sivers of CD Baby (http://www.cdbaby.com) had to say about our music promotion study:

"I bought this as soon as it came out, just out of curiosity, and it turned out to be a great reminder/buttkicker kind of book! Some things in it will be obvious for most of us, but many MANY things make you say, "Oh yeeeah! I had never thought of it that way!" I went & jumped on a few opportunities right after reading it. Highly recommended!"

PIANIST RESOURCE REVIEWS
========================

The Classical MIDI Collection
If you have an interest in MIDI music, don't pass up this vast collection of classical music. MIDI libraries include Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic, Twentieth Century and a whole lot more. Search by composer, style, or just browse. This very attractive site also provides instructions and online support for listening to compositions in the MIDI library as well as an online reference guide to publications on sequencing and MIDI basics. The Classical MIDI Collection is probably one of the finest online collections we've seen. Don't miss it!

INDIE RESOURCE REVIEWS
======================

AudioVideoweb.com
Need a professional to create your audio or video sound files for you? That's exactly the service AudioVideoweb provides. They will also host the content for you on their servers if you wish. Clients who purchase their audio services are entitled to a free web page as well.

Gigmasters
Gigmasters is a well designed site specifically targeted to clients looking for musicians or performers for their venue or special event. While we doubt many of our readers are actually interested in booking an artist, you might be interested in giving yourself a free listing in this International directory. Already, the Gigmasters database contains close to 5000 entries searchable by music style or event type. Listings are free, though an "enhanced" membership is available which will feature your CD in Gigmasters online store. Finally, the site does feature a bulletin board service for musicians looking to buy, sell, or hook up with other musicians.

Mish Mash
Musicians, if you'd like to get your new CD reviewed and beef up your press kit, check out Mish Mash. They'll review music from any genre in any format (CD, cassette, vinyl, 1/4" reel-to-reel, or even DAT). Got a video? You can send that, too. See site for details.

WORM Promotions
WORM bills itself as "the promotion company for the small band. Specifically, WORM specializes in graphic design work for business cards, buttons, t-shirts, flyers, handbills, printed ads & stickers. WORM can also provide you with moderate scale reproduction as well as booking and distribution if you happen to be in the Richmond Virginia area. Here's the best part... their prices are dirt cheap. Seriously, folks, we're talking logo designs for $5. You can't beat that. Our only complaint is the site contains no examples of their work with the exception of the WORM Promotions logo. None the less, for the price, who cares? If you need some quick and dirty graphic design, check 'em out.

Jazz Solo Transcriptions Online
Jazz pianist Ilia Sandalov knows good music, and has spent a great deal of time creating "solo transcriptions" of many of this centuries most popular Jazz artists. You find music by Charlie Parker, Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck and more. While most of these transcriptions are for sale, you will find a number of free items in *.pdf format ready to download. Important note: most of these piano solos are not entire scores, but rather one-line sheets that contain the principal improvizational line. Of particular interest, we recommend checking out Ilia's "Jazz Dictionary", a set of excerises containing patterns commonly used by the jazz masters. A Jazz student playing these exercises in all 12 keys can significantly enrich his or her improvisational skills.
