RAINMUSIC WINS COOL SITE AWARD from NEWHOO!
Folks, the word about us is getting around! It's always a surprize to win unsolicited awards. We are very excited about being one of the first Independent Music Sites recommended by NewHoo! Why is this such a big deal? NewHoo was just acquired by Netscape last month and will become Netscape's official web directory. While NewHoo is still far smaller than Yahoo, LookSmart and Snap, none of these other directories come close to matching NewHoo's surfing power. With Netscape making full use of NewHoo to keep up with the competition, we're bound to receive some benefit from their promotion.

Thanks for making us the best! We're now proudly displaying the NewHoo banner along with our other awards.

Here are a few articles about the acquistion for those interested:

PIANIST RESOURCE REVIEWS
========================

Tapestry Music
Tapestry is a Canadian music dealer specializing in piano music from Alfred, Bastien, Faber, Royal Conservatory and other publishers. The site features a searchable database of sheet music (Brass, Jazz, Piano & Educational) and they offer everything from piano method books to classical and popular music. With the current Canadian/US dollar exchange rate, their prices are quite reasonable, plus Tapestry offers a 15% discount to teachers on all orders. Order by mail or via a Toll Free number.

Wolfmusic Publications
Wolfmusic may be of interest to pianists looking for hard to find sheet music, specifically the piano sonatas of composer Muzio Clementi (1752-1832) who is featured at the site. Muzio was one of the first to create keyboard works expressly for the capabilities of the pianoforte. Of the more than 100 piano sonatas composed by Clementi, fewer than half are currently available in modern notation. Wolfmusic offers a volume of his music, the first in a series devoted to their publication.

INDIE RESOURCE REVIEWS
======================

BipBipBip
From a design perspective, BipBipBip is probably one of the most colorful sites we've seen selling independent music. But you're not here for a design lesson, so the question is, what does BipBipBip have to offer the independent musician? Essentially, Bip is an online music store dedicated to selling independent music... however, this isn't just for the homegrown folks, in fact, Bip sells music from the major labels all the way down to independent folks like you and I. What makes this particularly appealing from an indie perspective is that if you sell your music here, your music is sitting on the "shelves" right along side artists such as PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, Ben Folds Five and Cake. That means that unlike many Indie music stores, Bip has a number of popular artists to bring in the traffic, thereby increasing your chance of exposure. While getting your music on BipBipBip isn't exactly cheap, they offer a number of incentives for the indie artist that make this option worth looking into. At the very least, take a trip over to BipBipBip and see what they have to offer.

Vicki Rollin Design
If you're looking for truly professional artwork for your next album cover, you must check out the work of graphic artist Vicki Rollin. Vicki is certainly not a fly-by-night designer, in fact, she's done work for a number of professional organizations, some you will surely recognize as you browse her portfolio. Vicki will work directly with your CD manufacturer and her design work includes a number of other options, including video sleeves, j-cards and posters. Price list available upon request.
